The training in open water SCUBA of the Magdalena Bay Cooperative took place from April 29 - May 7, 2010. This was done in preparation for the underwater monitoring training which will take place in the Fall 2010. Once completed, these divers will survey inside the new marine reserve they voted to implement, and in control sites to compare the effect protection is having on the recovery of commercial species and fishing grounds.

The training was completed thanks to the support of Comunidad y Biodiversidad, the School for Field Studies of Puero San Carlos, and the Magdalena Bay Cooperative; and led by Cyndi Dawson with assistance from M. Luna. Participants included Alfonso Romero, Omar Rangel, Erasmo Rochin, Norberto Estala, Cipriano Romero, Roguer Romero, Ernesto Romero, and Raul Romero.
