Reef Check, with the support of Punta Sayulita, held the first EcoDiver training in Sayulita in December 2010. The beautiful beach community of Sayulita is located in the state of Nayarit, only half an hour drive from Puerto Vallarta.

Participants included students and professors from the Banderas Bay Technological Institute (Instituto Tecnológico de Bahía de Banderas), and recreational divers from Sayulita and surrounding communities.

Punta Sayulita organized a long board and SUP contest in April 2010 to raise funds for this training, and for the Sayulita Foundation which engages low-income Sayulita kids in surfing. This event was a tremendous success, and the 2nd Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & SUP Classic is scheduled for March 12-13, 2011.
